What is PRP?
Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is an injectable treatment harnessing the healing and rejuvenating powers of our body’s own blood. How does PRP work?
PRP is performed in-office with minimal down time. A small amount of blood is drawn and then spun in a machine to separate red blood cells from platelets and plasma. The PRP is then injected into the under-eye. For best results, a series of treatments is recommended spaced out monthly or based on your individual needs.
What are the possible side effects?
If side effects do develop, they tend to be mild and temporary. It is the injection itself, rather than the injectable agent that produces the mildest side effects. After injections, patients may experience swelling, redness, bruising, and soreness.
How can it be used?
PRP can be injected into the skin in areas such as the under-eyes, smiles lines, scars and is also used to treat hair loss via scalp injections. It may also be used on top of the skin in conjunction with energy devices (lasers) as well as microneedling.
